Bomp Exploded In Patani Two Village Volunteers were killed

PATANI DARUSALAM: 1 Augost 2017  – Two village volunteers were killed and four injured when a bomb exploded at a shelter where they went to rest after providing security for teachers on a road in Mai Kaen district on Tuesday morning.

The shelter is at an intersection of a road leading to a school in tambon Talo Kraithong.  

The bomb blast left a 1.5 metre wide hole about a metre deep. Investigators collected metal fragments and electronic parts from the scene. 

Police believed the explosive was stuffed in a steel pipe with a total weight of at least 10 kilogrammes. It was ignited remotely when the volunteers retired to the shelter shortly after 9am, after guarding the junction.

 

Volunteer Kwhnchai Yod-ied was killed instantly by the explosion. Muklis Latae died later at Mai Kaen hospital. Both lost their legs. The four wounded volunteers are Yalee Deeyor, Budderu Luemae, Abdulraomae. Nimae and Ayu Toma, police said. 

The shelter is used by local residents as well as security forces.  Prior to the attack, a bomb disposal team was deployed about 7am to check a suspicious box found at a market in Mayo municipality, Mayo municipality, Mayo district Patani province.
